Amanda Vaughn

Amanda Vaughn has been an artist since birth; she was pre-accepted to Otis College of Art and Design as a Junior in high school where she found her love for form and space of all art materials. While finishing her Fine Arts degree in photography and printmaking at UC Santa Cruz, she saw that her love of hair was blossoming. Her subjects in her Photographs needed their hair done, and she was there to fix it…

Amanda’s love of education, and the instantly gratifying process arts, Vidal Sassoon Academy was the next obvious step.  At Vidal Sassoon Academy Amanda learned the art of precision hair cutting, artistically placed color, and the way head shape and a person’s facial structure plays a major fact with their hairstyle.

In 2005 Amanda started working in San Francisco, Ca where she honed her skills and became an educator. Being an educator was an amazing way for her to further her own knowledge and working at this prestigious salon allowed her many opportunities such as taking classes from the queen of Balayage, Sally Hershberger. She also experienced New York fashion week, many photo shoots, stage work, has worked with many celebrities and has helped many women look beautiful for their big day.

After many years in this fast-paced environment Amanda and her friends opened a lovely salon in Oakland, Ca where Amanda cared for her clients and took time to go on hikes in the redwoods with her dog Nori and, a vacation in Mexico. That salon has been voted best salon in Oakland 3 years running. She even spent three years in Austin Tx; she loves to travel. So if you’re looking for that LA blonde or that creative San Francisco vibe, or that big Tx blowout, Amanda is your girl.

Amanda can’t wait to bring her love of working with the material that is hair to create a work of art for you.
